#GivingTuesdayNow, is a new global day of giving and unity that is taking place on May 5, 2020, in emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. #GivingTuesdayNow is taking place in addition to the regularly scheduled #GivingTuesday on December 1, 2020.
Truckers Emergency Assistance Responders – T.E.A.R. is a new organization but we were called upon to launch a campaign to raise awareness that truck drivers are being forgotten during community donation drives for personal protection equipment though they are moving in and out of hot zones to perform their essential work. We immediately took action and we need your help.
We encourage you to give to participate in #GivingTuesdayNow by supporting the individual organizations that you love most and ask you to consider T.E.A.R.for a donation – no amount is too little; we need your support.
The coronavirus has changed our world tremendously but one thing that remains the same is that truck drivers can be counted on to work on the front lines making sure store shelves remain stocked as quickly as their trailers are loaded at depleted warehouses. Essential workers that are unseen and underappreciated are the S/Heroes during this pandemic, who despite great personal risks to themselves are getting the job done to keep our society operational. Many without personal protection equipment themselves, this is especially true of truck drivers.
What we are doing NOW! Truckers Emergency Assistance Responders began the call for #PPE4TruckDrivers in early March using our social media networks. Our campaign to raise awareness of this issue prompted product donations, partnerships and monetary support from Transfix , Stuckey’s , UberFreight and DDC FPO. As a result, we were able to launch our own immediate #PPENOW distribution to truck drivers.
Thousands of Masks, Hand Sanitizer, Gloves and Antiseptic Wipes began being distributed by T.E.A.R. directly to truck drivers who are transporting freight in both directions of the Interstate 15 Corridor from Utah through Arizona, Nevada and into California.
Volunteers in Florida, Iowa, Georgia and Mississippi will begin helping T.E.A.R. distribute more PPE product as it becomes available in the coming weeks throughout May but ,in addition to product donations, we need your help to offset some shipping expenses, packaging supplies and transportation expenses for our volunteers to distribute these items.
