Truckers Emergency Assistance Responders – T.E.A.R. was founded in 2019 by three truck drivers who saw a need to help fellow drivers that suddenly find themselves stranded out on the road and unable to get home with their belongings.
Carrier abandonment often occurs in conjunction with misclassified workers being paid on a 1099. These drivers frequently are not paid their final check and are left with no resources to get home.
Truckers Emergency Assistance Responders – T.E.A.R. is 501 (c)(3) charitable organization recognized by the IRS in October 2019.
T.E.A.R. is not a handout but rather a hand up to help fellow a truck driver in distress, helping them with short-term immediate assistance due to carrier abandonment so they can get home with their pets and belongings and fill the gap when other driver resources are not available.
**** 2023 Update: We have run very low on funding and have been unable to help drivers with anything more than a bus ticket due to increased demand as trucking companies have been going bankrupt and leaving their drivers stranded. We urge drivers to make a plan to get home and leave pets at home so they are not stranded with them.***
